3 Steps in Checking Mucus "Soft"

"S" = Sensation: Wipe the vulva from the urethra across the perineum to the anus. Pay attention to the sensation as you feel as you wipe before looking at the tissue. The sensation will be DRY, or SMOOTH, or LUBRICATIVE. Decide on the sensation before looking at the tissue.

"O" = Observation: Observe the tissue for the PRESENCE or ABSENCE OF MUCUS.

"F-T" = Finger Test: If mucus is present on tissue, finger test it between the thumb and index finger for COLOR & CONSISTENCY.

Make a decision at each observation and mentally record it.
