Body Literacy and Fertility Awareness:
Building Community & Envisioning the Future
(A Serious Conference & Academic Pyjama Party)
May 14 to May 17, 2009
Edmonton, Alberta
Justisse is pleased to host a conference for Holistic Reproductive Health Practitioner graduates and students, fertility awareness instructors, and other holistic well-woman care providers. This is an exciting opportunity for us all to come together and share our particular area of interest and expertise in the field of fertility awareness education, body literacy, and holistic reproductive health care. The purpose of this conference is to build community among HRHP and FAM educators by sharing and dialoging about our knowledge, experience, strengths, and vision for our work and the collective work.
Heart – Mind – Body – Soul
We intend to provide an opportunity to bring forth discussion on a variety of issues that touch the heart, mind, body, and soul of this field. We invite rigorous academic and clinical case presentations, workshops, activities, and playful and creative expressions from the field. Our intention is to provide a salon style environment which includes discussion and exchange as an integral part of each presentation. We encourage participants to share how they have integrated fertility awareness with their particular area of expertise and the particular population they serve.
Proposal for Presentation
We invite you to submit a proposal for an original presentation. The purpose of this conference is to build community among HRHP and FAM educators through sharing our knowledge, experience, strengths, and visions. For example, a presentation may focus on combining charting with other healing modalities, or how to serve a particular population of women with charting, or how to address the needs of breastfeeding women, and so on.
Include in your proposal the following elements:
- discussion of how your presentation will serve the field
- length of your presentation (30, 60, or 90 minutes – you choose)
- breakdown use of time and plan to accommodate discussion and exchange
- title and summary of presentation (not more than 300 words) using the following format:
Title
Presenter (s) and credentials
Introduction
Purpose
Summary
Length of presentation and breakdown of time
Note how the presentation will serve the fertility awareness field
HRHP Student Day
Learning by distance can be a challenge, so in recognition of this we are dedicating the first day of the conference to sessions for current HRHP students and those interested in becoming an HRHP student.
Students are strongly encouraged to submit a proposal for presentation. Students are also invited to include a list of topics they would find helpful to have the trainers cover at the conference.
